I have been using this product for about 2 weeks now and I have run out of anything else to sharpen. Repeat this whole process, switching between sides, about 3-4 times.

Store stones dry, and leaf between stones with towel, cloth, paper, or plastic storage sleeves to prevent abrasive sides from rubbing. Stones are usually available in various grades, which refers to the grit size of the particles in the stone. Generally, the finer the grit, the denser the material, which leads to a finer finish of the surface of the tool. Finer grits cut slower because they remove less material. Grits are often given as a number, which indicates the density of the particles with a higher number denoting higher density and therefore smaller particles.

I’m spoiled on DMT plates, mainly for the reasons mentioned by Jason . I seldom feel the need to even strop after finishing on a DMT plate, because the edge is left very clean. Atoma plates are much better at lapping IMO, the diamonds clusters sit higher and I have found that this just digs into the edge more. The DMT plates don’t have the diamonds sitting as high so the finish is better and the edge is cleaner. Each of the various diamond offerings, plated and bonded, offers strengths as well as weaknesses. Medium Grit Green Side – recondition your blades, removing substantial amounts of material from your blade to re-define its edge.
